Rather than playing catch up with this blog, I'll start by posting my two most recent finishes, both of them made following Ricky Tims'
Kool Kaleidoscope Quilts instructions. He explains the process very clearly, step by step, and it's really pretty easy. He has a method that you learn, but the rest is up to you -- choice of size, division of wedges, fabrics, final layout, etc. Although he tells you to "be surprised," I couldn't help but try to plan how it would come out. This one is going up in my husband's office. The quilt is about 42" square.
The following one, only about 15" square, was made using the same method. I made fewer divisions in the wedge and was much more adept at planning what I wanted the second time around. I think it looks like a star that wants to be a snowflake.
The outside is made with leftover yardage from another project, but the kaleidoscope part of the quilt is made with leftover jelly roll strips from some placemats I made for my mother-in-law to use in her new home:

that purple and yellow star is absolutely stunning. congrats on all your finishes!!!
Great finishes! Especially love the one that is going to your husband's office . . .
Love them both! I like to be surprised by how quilts come out, but probably wouldn't be able to resist trying to plan it just a little.
Nice! but beware... these are addicting!
I've always loved the Ricky Tims kaleidoscopes. Yours are gorgeous...I am drooling over the purple one.
Great to have you back in the blogging world again. The colours in, the first one are wonderful.
Wow...Cool! Yours are great looking too!! I do plan on making another one and maybe another one and maybe more after that! ha!
I LOVE this Ricky Tims concept! It took me about a day to wrap my head around how to lay my pieces to get a good angle but I carried on and finally got the hang of it. I don't have his book just winged it from a partial demo he did!
