One more audition

I did make it to my LQS and got some of the white with black squiggle fabric -- it's the reverse of the one I showed yesterday. I added some red strips this time so it would be easy to imagine the inner red border.
I think I prefer this to the predominantly black one just because it's lighter and brighter. Comments welcome! And thanks so much to those of you who commented yesterday. It's really helpful to hear what everyone thinks. I've learned a lot when other bloggers post their auditions, too.

Several people have asked me how my foot is doing. It's great! Yesterday was my last post-surgery doctor's appointment and I got confirmation that things have healed very well. I can now walk fairly briskly for an hour at a time and don't limp at all until near the end. Soon even that should disappear! Thanks for all your encouragement and concern.

so what does the back (um, former front?) look like? Otto is a lucky little guy!

I would say stay with the black with white stripe.

this B& W leaves me much less off balance -- I love it! :-)

I like this one!

I like this one. More whimsical and light. And the red inner border ties it all together.

So glad to hear your foot is doing so well!

It's pretty close call between the two black and whites, but I think I like this lighter one a tiny bit better.

It's a winner!! I like it a lot!

Yah for the foot healing progress report....now you have no reason not to sew!! :)

I liked the yellow and didn't think it looked stuck on but I like this white with black too.

Glad to hear you're recovering well. I like both of the black and whites, but I actually think I like the white on black better??

What quilt shop do you go to?

I like this one better too! It's lighter and makes the designs and Otto's name pop more. I think this one is a winner!

go for it - looks great. I feel like terrible blogger friend - completely forgot about your foot surgery. You must not whine enough ;-) Glad you're doing well.

I can hardly make my mind up but think this one just does it for me !

To me this is a winner. I think that the black squiggles on the white background enhances the interior of the quilt. The border on the first one tends to draw your eye outward rather than focusing on the quilt. Those are my rationales.
Congrats on it.

I like this one too. With similar fabric in the quilt, it has a floating effect. I liked the yellow one too, for the same reason. The quilt looked almost see-through, as if it had openings to a yellow sky. The black (with white) one didn't do that. You are enjoying the process, which is just as important!

I guess I'm in the minority here , I like the yellow border best and then the black with the white lines. This is my least favorite one of the three.

I like the black with white squiggles best; yellow second. I think the white with black is too light - doesn't make the quilt pop so much.

I like just a red narrow border and being done..another choice you did not give! I guess if you need it to be larger..then I still like the yellow best..so there is my 2 cents.
so glad to hear the progress on your foot-woohoo! no stopping you now.

Cheri,
Actually you leave the freezer paper in (the reverse applique) until after you do all the stitching. I've finished the stitching on this one so keep your eyes out for photos of the next stage.

I love the b&w border you've chosen!

Okay ... just so I don't get overwhelmed with everyone's point of view ... I am going to post and then read backwards.

#1. Black with white
#2. Bright yellow
#3. White with black.

oh my ... at least you didn't offer more than three choices!

Hello Cheri! Just thinking of you! You've been quiet and I wanted to see how you're doing. I hope all is well!

I like the darker black and white too and would bind it in red or black. Or red and black stripes. Very zingy and cute!
