Will Paducah be in Paducah in 2009???

A member of my quilt guild just posted a link to an article that says a decision will be made in the next two weeks whether or not to hold the 2009 quilt show in Paducah or another city. Check out the article itself: Quilt Show Could Move in 2009.

ooh, that's interesting. really hope work is done, I know when I visited the paducah show (many many years ago) I was appalled at the conditions. Having some of the vendors in the room with the swimming pool (covered, obviously) where it was humid and smelled like chlorine was nasty. fingers crossed for Paducah it all gets sorted out.

Thanks for this post. I was thinking of going next year, never been there, so will keep my eyes open before buying a ticket!

Also thanks for the link to typogenerator... as if I haven't enough distractions! But this one is artistic and inspiring!!

I have a farm in southern IL about 45 minutes from Paducah and I know this would be devastating to the town. I had heard there was a new owner and the talk of not continuing with Paducah. I sure hope that they can pull it off because that town needs the quilt show to be there in order to survive.

Thanks for sharing this link ~ I live just over 4 hours away and was considering a run to the Paducah show next spring (especially since the Nashville show is moving to Knoxville in 2009 which 8 hours away instead of 3.5).

I wish the very best to all those involved in the decision making process... so many aspects to consider.

L hadn't heard about this but I did hear complaints from people who attended this year.

That article seems like the kind of small-city journalism where there is all sorts of stuff hinted at in between the lines. Scandalous doings in the Paducah hospitality industry? My oh my...

I stopped through Paducah with my family on the weekend after Christmas this winter. It is a charming town. I resolved to come back sometime for the big quilt show. Without the big draw of being Quilt City, there isn't much to do there.
